Libya
At least 22 people are reported dead and 20 others wounded following a car bomb in the Libyan city of Benghazi, security and medical sources have confirmed.
The explosion occurred at the Guwarsha district regular scene of clashes between forces loyal to Libya’s eastern government and an alliance of Islamists.
The attack has been claimed by the shura council of Benghazi Revolutionaries.
The alliance of Islamists were targeting the Libyan National Army, a break away faction of the army in the east controlled by General Khalifa Haftar.
Clashes between soldiers of the eastern army led by Khalifa Haftar and the shura council have plagued Benghazi for over two years now.
General Haftar and the eastern government have rejected the UN backed government of national unity based in Tripoli.
